Richard Fitzgilbert 1St Earl was born in 1035 in Beinfaite,Normandy,France and his baptism took place in Of,Brionne,Normandy,France.  Richard Fitzgilbert 1St Earl's father was Gilbert "Crispin" Brionne and his mother was Gunnora d' Aonou.  His paternal grandfather was Godfrey D'Eu & Brionne; his maternal grandparents were Fulk D' Aunou and Beatrice De Goz. He had nine brothers and two sisters, named Osbern De, Baldwin Fitzgilbert Of, Baldwin, Richard De Clare "De Tonbridge", Richard, William, Robert, Milo, William , 1st Lord of Bramber, Esilia Elsie and Ann.  He was the sixth youngest of the twelve children.  He died about 1090 in St. Neots,Huntingdon,England.  He was buried in Priory,St Neot's,Huntingdonshire,England.1

‌Richard Fitzgilbert 1St Earl and Rohese were married in a religious ceremony about 1054 in England.  They had five sons and six daughters, named Roger Fitzrichard, Walter, Richard Fitzrichard, Robert (Fitzrichard), Gilbert FitzRichard , 2nd Earl, Rohese FitzRichard, Avice, Ronais Fitzgilbert, Adeliza, Avoise De and Hawise.
