Emma Catherine was born on January 3rd, 1896 in Coosa Co., AL.1 Emma Catherine's father was James Alexander Miller and her mother was Emma Jane McEwen. Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Jackson Miller and Elvonea V. Logan; her maternal grandparents were George Washington McEwen and Mary Catherine Sears. She had three brothers and five sisters, named George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Rack, Ellen Cathren, Mary Maude, Martha Mable, Lucy Norton and Arsual Annette. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 37 on March 11th, 1933 in Rockford, Coosa Co., AL. MRS. E. D. BRIDGES SERIOUSLY ILL AT HOME IN SEARS CHAPEL
The many friends of Mrs. E. D. Bridges of Sears Chapel regret knowing tht
she is still seriously ill at her home. According to reports her
condition has been unchanged for the past few days. We hope that she may
begin to improve at an early date.(5)
Mrs. Catherine Bridges Died Last Saturday
Mrs. Emma Catherine Bridges, age 37, passed away at her home at Sears
Chapel Saturday evening at seven o’ clock after a long illness. The
deceased, who before her marriage to Evie Davis Bridges, was Emma
Catherine Miller, was born and reared in this county and was the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Miller of Sears Chapel. With the exception of a
few years she has spent all of her life in the county. She united with
the Methodist church at Sears Chapel when only a young girl and remained
true to the denomination throughout her lifetime. She left four children,
Mary Ruth, Mable, Evie Davis, Jr., and a six month old baby; (6) her
husband, her father and mother, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral
services were held from the Sears Chapel church Sunday afternoon at three
o’clock with Rev. J. H. Roberts, pastor of the Rockford Methodist church,
officiating and Service Funeral Home of Alexander City, directing. Pall
bearers were J. H. Fulmer, Roy Carden, W. L. Kilgore, Hannon McEwen,
Sherill Hanna and Howell Hanna.(7) My father, Evie Davis Bridges, Jr.,
informed me that he remembered a Christmas cactus red bloom laid on her
bosom at the funeral.

Rockford, Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock. We congratulate these young
