Lewis Grimes

Lewis was born in 1777.¹   Lewis' father was James Grimes and his mother was Sarah Winders.  His paternal grandparents were Hugh Grimes and Elizabeth Whitehead; his maternal grandfather was John Winders. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named James, Jr., William, John, Thomas, Stephen, Isaac, Bryan, daughter, daughter, daughter and daughter.  He was the oldest of the twelve children.
