Meshach was born in Buchanan County,Virginia. Meshach's father was Frances Meadows and his mother was Clarissa Vance. His paternal grandparents were Drewey Haston Meadows and Rebecca Ratliff; his maternal grandparents were William Vance and Margaret "Peggy" Unknown. He had eight brothers and two sisters, named Shadrack, Alexander A, Paris, James E, John A, George Floyd, William, Henry Clay, Margaret and Sarah Ann. He died on February 14th, 1964 in Beckley,West Virginia.-
