Joan was born in October 1165 in Angers Castle, Anjou.  Joan's father was Henry II Plantagenet de Anjou King of England and her mother was Eleanor de Aquitaine Dss de Aquitaine.  Her paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V Plantagenet [COUNT OF ANJOU] and Empress of England Matilda; her maternal grandparents were William VIII Count of Poitou , X Duke d'Aquitaine and Eleanor de Chatellerault. She had six brothers and two sisters, named William Plantagenet, Richard I Coeur de Lion, Geoffrey, Philip, John Lackland Plantagenet, Henry the Young King, Matilda (Maud) and Eleanor. She had six half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Morgan, Richard, Hugh of Wells, William Longespee of, Peter, Geoffrey Plantagenet, Matilda, daughter, Agnes Capet, Marie Capet and Alisa Capet.  She died at the age of 33 on September 4th, 1199 in Fontevrault Abbey, France.
