Viola Pearl was born on July 2nd, 1915 in Monroe County, Indiana. Viola Pearl's father was Aaron Wampler and her mother was Rosezetta Frances Shields. Her paternal grandparents were John W. Wampler and Delcena Vaught; her maternal grandparents were James Madison Shields and Mary Jane Heltonburg. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Ray, Wendell Marshall, Richard Leon, John Lee, James W., Lucille Mildred, Sally Laverne, Wilma Jean, Georgie Bernice and Mary Jo. She was the fourth oldest of the eleven children.-
