Richard Leon was born on January 13th, 1918 in Monroe County, Indiana. Richard Leon's father was Aaron Wampler and his mother was Rosezetta Frances Shields. His paternal grandparents were John W. Wampler and Delcena Vaught; his maternal grandparents were James Madison Shields and Mary Jane Heltonburg. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Ray, Wendell Marshall, John Lee, James W., Lucille Mildred, Viola Pearl, Sally Laverne, Wilma Jean, Georgie Bernice and Mary Jo. He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 1 on March 3rd, 1919 in Monroe County, Indiana. He was buried in Clear Creek Cemetery, Clear Creek, Monroe Co., Indiana.-
