Nettie Roxie was born on February 20th, 1890 in Monroe County, Indiana. Nettie Roxie's father was William C. Shields and her mother was Elizabeth A. Deckard. Her paternal grandparents were James Madison Shields and Martha J. Sciscoe; her maternal grandparents were Adam Deckard and Elizabeth Sylvester. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Charles Edgar, William Oscar, Raymond, Keet, Fred, John W., Elza Flick, Lydia Florence and Flora. She was the youngest of the ten children. She died at the age of 76 on June 3rd, 1966 in Monroe County, Indiana. She was buried in Clear Creek Cemetery, Clear Creek, Monroe Co., Indiana.-
