David Jefferson Shields 
David Jefferson was born on March 17th, 1865 in Monroe County, Indiana. David Jefferson's father was James Madison Shields and his mother was Martha J. Sciscoe. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Shields and Sarah "Sally" Masterson. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Louis W., George Washington, William C., John Thomas, James K. Polk, Isaac, Sarah Elizabeth, Nancy Jane, Mary Alice and Delitha Belle. He was the youngest of the eleven children. He had four half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Joseph Lenzy, Hiram Martin, Grover Cleveland, Paris Everett "Jack", Estella Martha, Mamie Alma, Infant, Izella Ethel, Maude Emiline, Rosezetta Frances and Nancy Pearl. He died at the age of 62 on February 25th, 1928 in Monroe County, Indiana. He was buried on February 27th, 1928 in Mt. Ebal Cemetery, Clear Creek Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana.-
