Ruth Elizabeth was born on March 31st, 1906 in Monroe County, Indiana. Ruth Elizabeth's father was David Jefferson Shields and her mother was Cordelia Sexton. Her paternal grandparents were James Madison Shields and Martha J. Sciscoe. She had two brothers and three sisters, named James Glen, Noble "Jack", Carrie, Zelma and Mildred Elizabeth. She was the second youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 84 on December 1st, 1990 in Monroe County, Indiana. She was buried in Mt. Ebal Cemetery, Clear Creek Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana.-
