William Sims 
William was born in 1650 in Poundsford,Somerset,England. William's father was Thomas Symes and his mother was Amy Bridges. His paternal grandparents were John Symes II and Amy Horner; his maternal grandparents were Edward Bridges and Phillippa Speake. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, George, Edward, Charles, Henry, Benjamin, Richard, John, Amy, Mary, Elizabeth and Catherine. He was the sixth youngest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 75 on February 17th, 1725 in New Kent County,Virginia.General Notes
Records indicate that there was a William Symes who was Constable in Essex County, VA in 1686. Though not proven this is likely to be this William Symes. Essex County is immediately across the Rapahannock River from Richmond County where his son Willian Jr. lived.
