Mary Shanks 
Mary was born in 1849 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Mary's father was William Shanks and her mother was Catherine. Her paternal grandparents were Christian Shanks and Margaret Pearson. She had a brother and six sisters, named Martin Van Buren, Louisiana, Eliza, Cyrena Or Serena G., Amanda, Hannah H. and Roxanna. She was the second youngest of the eight children.
