Elizabeth was born in 1831 in , Hawkins, Tennessee. Elizabeth's father was Henry Pearson and her mother was Mary Or Polly Cole. Her paternal grandparents were Christian Pearson and Catherine. She had six brothers and six sisters, named Christopher, John M., Mitchell, Jefferson, Jackson, Stokely, Louisa, Sarah, Maria, Mary, Minerva and Nunila. She was the seventh oldest of the thirteen children.-
