William Droke was born on October 12th, 1842 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. William Droke's father was John William Harr and his mother was Eleanor Phagan Droke. His paternal grandparents were John Simon Harr and Lydia Hicks; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Droke Jr. and Catherine Foust. He had eleven brothers and a sister, named Jacob Droke, Simon Joel Elkanah, James Leonidas, Benjamin Martin, Henry Lafayette, Arthur Jackson, John Isaac, Francis Marion, George Washington, David Wolford, Thomas Jefferson and Lydia Catherine. He was the third oldest of the thirteen children.-
