Lydia Catherine was born on March 31st, 1844 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Lydia Catherine's father was John William Harr and her mother was Eleanor Phagan Droke. Her paternal grandparents were John Simon Harr and Lydia Hicks; her maternal grandparents were Jacob Droke Jr. and Catherine Foust. She had twelve brothers named Jacob Droke, Simon Joel Elkanah, William Droke, James Leonidas, Benjamin Martin, Henry Lafayette, Arthur Jackson, John Isaac, Francis Marion, George Washington, David Wolford and Thomas Jefferson. She was the fourth oldest of the thirteen children.-
