Benjamin Martin was born in 1847 in Tennessee. Benjamin Martin's father was John William Harr and his mother was Eleanor Phagan Droke. His paternal grandparents were John Simon Harr and Lydia Hicks; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Droke Jr. and Catherine Foust. He had eleven brothers and a sister, named Jacob Droke, Simon Joel Elkanah, William Droke, James Leonidas, Henry Lafayette, Arthur Jackson, John Isaac, Francis Marion, George Washington, David Wolford, Thomas Jefferson and Lydia Catherine. He was the sixth oldest of the thirteen children.-
