Elizabeth was born on October 5th, 1770 in , , North Carolina. Elizabeth's father was Thomas Amis and her mother was Alice Gale. Her paternal grandparents were John Amis and Mary Dillard; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Whitney Gale and Mary Griffith. She had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Willis, Lincoln, Thomas Gale, Tabitha, Frances, Mary, Rachel, Alice Gale and Penelope. She was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Haynes, William, James and Nancy. She died at the age of 6 on November 17th, 1776 in , , North Carolina.-
