Bernard was born in March 1897 in Marion Co., IN . Bernard 's father was Charles Washington Bland (Dick)Richard DOAN and his mother was Martha "Mattie" PRICE . His paternal grandparents were John Anderson DOAN and Lucretia Evalaine BLAND ; his maternal grandparents were Thomas PRICE and Narccisa COX. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Son, Clarence Edwin, Ernest, Grace M , Clara Edith and Alice. He was the third oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named James Lewis . He died at the age of 13 in 1910 in Marion Co., IN .-
