John Whitney 
John was born on October 11th, 1809 in Great Barrington, Berkshire, MA.1 John's father was Henry Whitney and his mother was Prudence Grey. His paternal grandparents were Eliasaph Whitney and Mary Bishop. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Platt, Harvey, William Henry, James, Alfred Eliasaph, George, Richard Lewis, Nancy, Sally, Louisa and Betsy Ann. He was the third youngest of the twelve children.-
