St. Ferdinand III was born on August 5th, 1201 in Castile, Spain.1   St. Ferdinand III's father was Alphonso IX the Slobberer de León King of León and his mother was Berengaria Alfonsez Queen of Castile.  His paternal grandparents were Ferdinand II de León King of León and Urraca Alfonsez de Portugal Cts de Portugal; his maternal grandparents were Alfonso VIII de Castile King of Castile and Alianor Plantagenet. He had a brother named Alfonse de Molina.  He was the older of the two children. He had two half-sisters named Urraca Alfonsez and Berengaria de León.  He died at the age of 50 on May 30th, 1252 in Seville, Spain.1
