Alfonso VIII de Castile King of Castile 
Alfonso VIII de Castile was born on November 11th, 1155 in Soria, Castile.1 Alfonso VIII de Castile's father was Sancho III de Castile King of Castile and his mother was Blanca de Navarre. His paternal grandparents were Alfonso VII the Emperor King of Castile & León and Berenguela Berenger; his maternal grandparents were García IV Ramírez the Restorer King of Navarre and Marguerite de l' Aigle. He was an only child. He died at the age of 58 on October 6th, 1214 in Huelgas, Burgos, Castile, Spain (near Avevalo).1 General Notes

Alfonso VIII, King of Castile, victor at the battle of Las Navas de
Tolosa, which forever tipped the Iberian scales in favor of the
christians. He married Eleanor, daughter of Henry II of England, and
Eleanor of Aquitaine. In addition to son Enrique I (who d.s.p.) he had
several daughters, including the wife of Louis VIII.
