Cajus was born in 1887 in Aruba.  Cajus' father was Eustachius Flanegin and his mother was María Marcelina Vrolijk. He had eight brothers and eight sisters, named Juan, Lourens, Jan, Domingo, Pedro, Ciriaco, Teolindo, Mario, Cecilia, Sarafina, Petrona, Christina, Clemance, Maria, Ruperta and Wilhelmina.  He was the seventh oldest of the seventeen children.  He died at the age of 21 in 1908 in Aruba.
