Rowena was born on March 18th, 1817 in Wakefield, New Hampshire.  Rowena's father was David Spinney and her mother was Lydia Paul.  Her paternal grandparents were Ebenezer Spinney and Phebe Cole; her maternal grandparents are Stephen Paul and Barthsahba Weare. She had eight brothers and seven sisters, named Stephen, Ebenezer, Parker, David, Parker, Paul, Alvah, Joseph, Barthsehba, Lydia, Hannah, Phebe, Pauline, Lydia and Lydia.  She was the youngest of the sixteen children.  She died at the age of 46 in 1863.
