Luis, known as Luis Ponce, was born on November 26th, 1905 in Lajas, Puerto Rico.  Luis Ponce's father was Francisco Rodríguez-Olán and his mother was Jovita del Carmen Ponce de León-Rivera.  His paternal grandparents were Pedro María Rodríguez-Torres and Ramona Olán; his maternal grandparents were José Florentino Ponce de León-Nazario de Figueroa and María Juliana Rivera-González.  He had four brothers and two sisters, named Corso, José, Francisco, Minguito Ponce, María and María.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died from cancer at the age of 86 on August 26th, 1992 in Yauco, Puerto Rico.  The funeral took place on August 27th, 1992 in Yauco, Puerto Rico and was arranged by Yauco Báez Memorial, Inc..  His burial was on August 27th, 1992 in Municipal Cemetery, Yauco, Puerto Rico.
