Robert was born on November 5th, 1771 in Muirton and his baptism took place on November 5th, 1771. Robert's father was William Anderson and his mother was Marjory Adam. He had three brothers and four sisters, named James, William, Alexander, Isobel, Elizabeth, Helen and Elspet.  He was the oldest of the eight children.
