Alexander was born on July 27th, 1796 in Drainie, Lossiemouth, Morayshire, Scotland and his baptism took place on August 3rd, 1796.  Alexander's father was William Anderson and his mother was Marjory Adam. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Robert, James, William, Isobel, Elizabeth, Helen and Elspet.  He was the youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 77 in 1873 in Lossiemouth, Morayshire, Scotland.
