William was born in 1869 in Salford, Lancashire, UK.1   William's father was Jonathan REDSHAW and his mother was Eliza BENNETT.  His paternal grandfather was John REDSHAW and his paternal grandmother is Hannah DUNWELL; his maternal grandparents are William BENNETT and Sarah (UNKNOWN). He had five brothers and two sisters, named Alfred, Walter, John, Benjamin, Jonathan, Sarah and Hannah.  He was the sixth oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 43 in 1912 in Salford, Lancashire, UK.2
