Benjamin was born in 1871 in Salford, Lancashire, UK.1   Benjamin's father was Jonathan REDSHAW and his mother was Eliza BENNETT.  His paternal grandfather was John REDSHAW and his paternal grandmother is Hannah DUNWELL; his maternal grandparents are William BENNETT and Sarah (UNKNOWN). He had five brothers and two sisters, named Alfred, Walter, John, William, Jonathan, Sarah and Hannah.  He was the seventh oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 50 in 1921 in Salford, Lancashire, UK.2
