Joseph was born on May 31st, 1722 in East Greenwich, Kent, Rhode Island, USA.1   Joseph's mother was Mary Aylesworth.  His maternal grandparents were Arthur Aylesworth and Mary Brown. He had nine brothers and four sisters, named Philip, Josiah, Joshua, Amos, Benjamin, Caleb, Jonathan, Thomas, William, Mary, Elizabeth, Ruth and Elizabeth.  He was the eighth oldest of the fourteen children.  He died at the age of 73 on January 11th, 1796 in Berlin, Rensselaer, New York, USA.1
