Padmini Devi (Sajjala) was born on August 30th, 1929.  Padmini Devi (Sajjala)'s father was Bhavanarayana  Rao Sajjala and her mother was Alivelumanga Thayaramma (Naraala) Sajjala.  Her paternal grandparents were Venkataswamy Sajjala and Manikyamma (d/o Chodagam Brahmaiah, Ponnur) Sajjala. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Ramakrishna, GopalaKrishna, Kusuma Haranath, Raghunath, Paramapavana Murthy, Sugnananda Murthy, Janaki Devi, Indira Devi (Sajjala) and Jayanthi Devi (Sajjala).  She is the second oldest of the ten children.
