Jayanthi Devi (Sajjala) was born in 1942.  Jayanthi Devi (Sajjala)'s father was Bhavanarayana  Rao Sajjala and her mother was Alivelumanga Thayaramma (Naraala) Sajjala.  Her paternal grandparents were Venkataswamy Sajjala and Manikyamma (d/o Chodagam Brahmaiah, Ponnur) Sajjala. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Ramakrishna, GopalaKrishna, Kusuma Haranath, Raghunath, Paramapavana Murthy, Sugnananda Murthy, Janaki Devi, Padmini Devi (Sajjala) and Indira Devi (Sajjala).  She is the eighth oldest of the ten children.
