John, known as Jack, was born in 1894 in Ballinagard.1  Jack's father was Thomas Larkin and his mother was Annie Kelly.  His paternal grandparents were John Larkin and Margaret Connor. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William, Michael, Tommie, Marguerite, May, Eileen and Katie.  He died at the age of 22 in 1916.
