Succeeded his brother Thomas ,c 1438,as per Thomas's wishes. Roger was appointed Commisioner of the West Borders in 1455,by King James.The family names used chiefly by the Closeburn Kirkpatrick's, were Thomas, James, Roger, Yvone, and Samuel
