Hilda was born in October 1923 in Chorlton-cum-Hardy.¹

Hilda's father was Archibald (Archie) Pickin Wright and her mother was Edith (Eda) Mercer. Her maternal grandparents were John Robert Mercer and Emily Anne Herring. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Albert, John, Edie, Janet and May. She was the fifth oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 1 on November 29th, 1924.¹
