Stephen was born in September 1856 in Manchester.¹

Birth Notes

Stephen's father was Stephen Settle and his mother was Jane Howe. His paternal grandparents were Abraham Settle and Alice Mather. He had four brothers and a sister, named William, Joseph, Stephen, John and Martha. He was the second youngest of the six known children. He died at the age of 2 in December 1858 in Manchester.¹
