Stephen was born on March 17th, 1853 in Manchester and his baptism took place on June 16th, 1853 in Salford.¹²

Birth Notes

Stephen's father was Stephen Settle and his mother was Jane Howe. His paternal grandparents were Abraham Settle and Alice Mather. He had four brothers and a sister, named William, Joseph, Stephen, John and Martha. He was the third oldest of the six known children. He died as an infant at 6 months old in September 1853 in Manchester.¹
