Thomas was born in June 1888 in Little Bolton.1  Thomas' father was William Richardson and his mother was Elizabeth Caughlin.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Buchan (Richardson) and Catherine Harrison. He had four brothers and a sister, named William, George, Robert, Harold and Robert.  He was the second oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 66 in January 1955 in Bolton.2
