Mary was born in 1787 in Worthenbury and her christening took place there on February 26th, 1787.1  Mary's father was Thomas Phythian and her mother was Suzannah Hallmark.  Her paternal grandparents were Charles Phythian and Anne Falconer; her maternal grandparents were John Hallmark and Mary Hallmark. She had two brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas, Ann and Jane.  She was the second oldest of the five known children.
