Percy was born on October 27th, 1887 in Ashton-in-Makerfield and his baptism took place there on December 11th, 1887.1 2  Percy's father was Henry Morris and his mother was Anne Wood.  His maternal grandparents were Henry Wood and Alice Naylor (Littler). He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, Harry, Jane, Margaret, Ellen and Annie.  He was the third youngest of the seven known children.
