Birth Notes

Emily's father was Herbert Dutton Mercer and her mother was Mary Moutray. Her paternal grandparents were John Robert Mercer and Emily Anne Herring. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Henry, John, Gerald, Herbert, Alexander, Mona, Alice, Eileen and Dorothy. She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.
