Velina was born on October 7th, 1916 in Adlington.1 Velina's father was Frederick (Fred) Mather and her mother was Alice Berry. Her paternal grandparents were Isaac Mather and Jane Worsley. She had a brother named Jack. She was the younger of the two known children.-
