Sarah Mather

Sarah was born in 1794 in WestLeigh and her baptism took place on July 5th, 1794 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).¹

Sarah's father was Nathan Mather and her mother was Jane (Jenny) Birchenhead. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Matthew, Abraham, Thomas, Betty and Mary. She was the oldest of the six children. She had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Abraham, Abraham, James and Peggy. She died at the age of 74 in January 1868 in Stockport.²

- Sarah did not marry John Gregory 1822 in Leigh. That Sarah Mather was already a widow, so cant be this Sarah Mather. It is more likely Sarah a spinster married Thomas Hough a widower in 1825.
  
  In 1841, Sarah (50) and her brother Matthew (45) and his wife Jane and family were at Cheapside, Hyde, Stockport.
  
  In 1851, Saraha Mather, 60, unmarried, born Westleigh, was a Washerwoman in Stockport with William and Mary Lomax.
