In 1873, Alice died, aged 23 and in 1875, Peter married Martha Booth at St. James, Breightmet.
In 1881, Peter Mather (32) was a foreman at the Bleach Works. With him were his new wife Martha (32) and daughter Alice Emily aged 7 (from his first wife Alice). He also has an unmarried "lodger" Susannah Rothwell (27) with two young daughters Alice and Lydia (3 & 1), possibly his.
In 1891, Peter and Martha (both 42) and Alice E (17) were at 11 Chapel Street, Tonge. Three Booths inc Rachel (Wid, 65) were lodgers, probably Martha's mother.
In 1901, Peter Mather (52) was a night watchman with wife Alice (also 52). Daughter Alice Emily Bromiley and family were living with them.
"PETER, husband of Martha MATHER, departed this life August 19th 1903, aged 56 years" (but actually 55).
