Ellen was born in 1858 in Bolton and her baptism took place on August 29th, 1858 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹²

Birth Notes

Ellen's father was John Mather and her mother was Martha Jordan. Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Mary Wood. She had six brothers and five sisters, named James, Samuel, William, Robert, Thomas, John, Mary, Betsy, Hannah, Hannah and Martha. She was the sixth oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 57 on December 5th, 1915 in Bolton. She was buried on December 9th, 1915 at the Heaton Cemetery.³⁴
