Mary Makinson

Mary was born in 1814 in Blackrod and her baptism took place there on March 20th, 1814.¹

  One of these two baptisms must be wrong. There is no death for Mary, and also Hugh was born 1815, so second one must be an error (or there are two families).

Mary's father was James Makinson and her mother was Betty Mather. Her maternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Entwistle. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Hugh, John, Nicholas, George, George, Richard, Ann, Elizabeth and Alice. She was the oldest of the ten children.

General Notes
- Mary is baptised 1 year after the first Mary, and then Hugh 3 months later. There must be two families here, and those children of James the labourere and Betty are another.
