George was born in 1824 in Blackrod and his baptism took place there on August 8th, 1824.¹

Birth Notes

George's father was James Makinson and his mother was Betty Mather. His maternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Entwistle. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Hugh, John, Nicholas, George, Richard, Mary, Ann, Elizabeth and Alice. He was the fifth youngest of the ten children. He died in 1824.
