Jane was born in 1714.  Jane's father was James Knowles and her mother was Agnes Bertwistle. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Benjamin, John, Elizabeth, Alice and Agnes.  She was the second oldest of the six children.  She died at the age of 76 in 1790.
