Mary's father was John Gillibrand and her mother was Jane Mather. Her maternal grandparents were Isaac Mather and Mary Fairhurst. She had two brothers and a sister, named Robert, Isaac and Eliza. She was the oldest of the four children. She died at the age of 62 on March 29th, 1935 in Washington.²

- Mary E Gillibrand (35) married an older William C Langley (49) in 1907 in California. They later lived in King, Washington near Mary's other siblings. Although getting on in age, they had three children(1907-1912). William died at King, Washington in 1923.
