Rachel's father was Samuel Davies and her mother was Jane Jones.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Davies and Rachel Millington. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Edward, Thomas, John, Samuel, George, William, Jane and Elizabeth.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
