Jane's father was William Cooper and her mother was Anne Rostron. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, William, Joseph, Jonathan, David, Charles, Elizabeth and Priscilla.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 29 on October 24th, 1846 in Edgworth.³
